BIBLE TEXT: EXODUS 14:10-14
Exodus 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
I will want to start by informing you that God is more interested in fighting the battles of your life for you than you are, especially if you are a believer (born-again). It will shame heaven that a son or daughter of God's kingdom died a failure, is in terrible lack, is sick without getting healing from the Greatest Physician.
That God will fight your battles means you don't have to fret or be discouraged when the devil challenges your faith for you have a Mighty Man of war on your side - Philippians 4:6.
WE ARE NOT FIGHTING FOR VICTORY BUT FROM VICTORY - EPHESIANS 1:17-21; 2:6-9
Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Jesus fought for our victory and he won it on the cross of Calvary. On the Cross he declared that, "it is finished". So the battle for our success, redemption of our souls, good health, peace and every good thing you can think of. So, when we fight against the powers of darkness, we are not fighting for victory because it has been won for us but we fight to defend our victory. Satan is the attacker and we are defending our estates against him and his demonic forces.
THE DEVIL FIGHTS TO TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE
When the devil fights a believer, he is only trying to test the believer's knowledge of who he is. The devil wants to know if you really know your identity in Christ. He wants to know that you are already a victor. If he discovers that the believer is empty of the knowledge of his identity, he then steals your victory from you fulfilling his ministry as contained in John 10:10.
WHY SHOULD GOD FIGHT FOR YOU?
- He is almighty (all-powerful). So he can kill and make alive at his own discretion. - Genesis 17:1, 1 Samuel 2:6
- He is a man of war - Exodus 15:3, Isaiah 42:13. He can use anything (wind, rain, sun, fire, earthquake, etc.) as a weapon. - Joshua 10:8-11. Number 16:23-30
- He knows where best and how best to hit your enemies. - Exodus 11:1
- He can cause more damage/destruction to your enemies than you can - Joshua 10:8-11
- The devil is tricky and aside grace, we are not strong enough to fight him but God is far stronger than him.
- God can fight both in the physical and spiritual realm. Colossians 2:13-15, Ephesians 6:12.
