This article series is a product of my study on the topic, A Believer After God’s Heart with focus on King David. The study was intended for Bible Study in my local assembly. My discoveries on what made God boast of David as a man after His heart even when the same David was an unknown character prior to God declaring him a man after His heart, and how this can enrich a believer’s relationship with God is what the Holy Spirit has placed in my heart to share with you. The depth of what I discovered compelled me to author the book, Winning God’s Heart.
David was only an unknown shepherd boy who spent most of his time in the wilderness. Though he had a rich spiritual life, he was unknown even to Samuel, the greatest prophet in the land. This tells us that there are so many people who possibly are secret spiritual giants. They are neither popular nor big time preachers but they are known to God. They probably have not travelled outside their villages for the first time but they are well acquainted with heaven and the divine principles of relating with God. David was such a spiritual giant.
And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee – 1 Samuel 13:13-14
The passage in 1 Samuel 13:14 where God told Samuel that He had found Himself a man after His heart to replace King Saul who had fallen out of favour with Him reveals that our God is always in search of men who can win His heart. What attributes does God look out for in the life of a man who will win His heart? Answers to these questions are the subject of this book.
I discovered that God in some respect is like us, humans. He loves excellence just as men do. Every outstanding student is the teacher’s pride; every winning sportsman is the fans’ favourite; every high-performing staff is often loved by the management. God similarly loves those who perform superbly in spiritual matters and their earthly mandate. They win His heart and enjoy extra love and grace from Him. He relates with them extraordinarily. They are always cherished, blessed, protected and prospered by God. They are usually God’s favourites, and, who on earth would not want to be God’s favourite? Who would not want God to boast of him as one of His best?
People who win God’s heart have an excellent relationship with Him. They are men and women who can feel the pulse of heaven. They understand how God works. They can interpret divine signals. They are people who know what God wants done and are always willing vessels to carry out required divine assignments.
If any believer is to make the best of the grace of salvation which he has received, he must win God’s heart. Otherwise it becomes difficult for his service and works of faith to be acceptable to God.
Prayerfully read through the whole article series to discover how you can win God’s heart. Passionately apply the knowledge and you will not only win God’s heart but will begin to enjoy the great benefits of winning God’s heart.
May God bless you most richly as you continually growth in your relationship with Him in Jesus name.
