And
she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall
save his people from their sins – Matthew 1:21.
To many of us
Christians, “in Jesus name” has become one of the most familiar and used phrase
in the church that many trivialize the amount of power and wonders it can work.
The scriptures made us to understand that it is a name that is above every
other name at whose mention knees of powers and principalities bow. The name
was divinely given (Matthew 1:21) with the power to deliver from every form of
bondage, oppression and affliction. There are several cases in the Bible of the
wonders worked by the name of Jesus. “Jesus”
is the greatest name not only in our human realm but also in the spiritual
(Ephesians 1:19-21, Philippians 2:9).
Peter used the name of
Jesus to heal the lame man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:6) without any medical
treatment. Using the name of Jesus, Paul in Acts 16:18 casted out a demon from
a slave girl. It was prayers and praises
rendered to God in the name of Jesus that delivered Paul and Silas from the
jail (Acts 16:25). Our Lord Jesus charged us to ask for anything in His
name and it shall be given us. Ask for anything you can think of in this
wonder-working name.
Hitherto
have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may
be full - John 16:24
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover - Mar 16:17-18.
Among other things;
- The name of Jesus is a name that intimidates the powers of darkness. They flee at the mention of the name (Acts 4:17-18, Mark 16:17, Acts 16:16-18).
- It is a name that heals (Acts 3:16, James 5:14, Acts 3:6).
- It is a name that saves from sin (Acts 4:12, John 3:18, John 1:12, Luke 24:46-47).
- It empowers a believer (John 1:12).
- It is a name that sanctifies (1 Corinthians 6:11).
- It is a name that bring answers to prayers (John 16:23-24).
- It is a name that is worth more than
silver and gold (Acts 3:6).
I pray that the name of Jesus will work all the needed wonders in your life.
Remain blessed!
