THE CAPTIVITY OF ZION (PART 1)

"When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south." - Psalms  126:1-4 For some days now, the Holy Spirit has laid the above Bible passage in my heart. Whenever that nudge comes from him, I clearly know that there is someone somewhere he wants to talk to on the subject of captivity.  There are some questions we will consider as we go on and they are; What is captivity? Zion in captivity? Why will Zion be in captivity? WHAT IS CAPTIVITY? Captivity refers to a state of being imprisoned or confined. It means that such a person is probably taken away from his accustomed environment, denied the right to do what he wants and when he wants it. While in captivity, ones basic rights to move

WINNING GOD'S HEART 4: A PERFECT HEART TOWARDS GOD

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him… – 2 Chronicles 16:9. The Bible referred to men after God’s heart as people whose heart is perfect towards God. Little wonder they are few. You could imagine that in the whole nation of Israel only a little boy was certified by heaven as a man after God's heart. What does it mean to have a perfect heart towards God?  In the words of Derek Prince, ―perfection toward God consists of a right attitude toward God and a right attitude toward evil. There is no neutrality in perfection toward God. You do not compromise with anything that is unpleasing to Him; you are absolutely committed to obedience—no matter what it costs. To have a perfect heart towards God means to have a heart that is blameless towards Him. Such a heart is one devoid of sin. It is a heart that has a right standing towards God and man. It is a heart that does not cheat on

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL: CAN GOD CHANGE HIS MIND? I

DATE: MONDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2020. THEME: CAN GOD CHANGE HIS MIND? I  MEMORISE: And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. Exodus 32:14 READ: Exodus 32:10-20 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. 11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and

WINNING GOD'S HEART (3)

Any believer who wants to enjoy a good relationship with God should be very interested in discovering what David did that endeared him to God’s heart. If David, a shepherd boy who spent most of his time in the wilderness taking care of his father’s flock successfully won God’s heart, then you too can win God’s heart. There are conditions set by God which must be met by anyone who wants to win His heart. Truth remains that God is not ready to change these conditions for any reason. The Bible reveals in 2 Timothy 2:19 that; …the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. You either meet the conditions or forget about winning His heart. The choice is yours. In our world today where there are too many blends and diverse teachings in the Christian faith, it is very important for every believer to know and understand this: God will never change the conditions for winning His he

WINNING GOD'S HEART (2)

And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee – 1 Samuel 13:13-14  If you have meditatively read the above Bible passage before now, one question you must have possibly asked yourself is, “what qualified David to become a man after God’s heart?” Our God could not be lying. If He called David a man after His heart, then that is who David was. What should be of interest to us is to know how David qualified to become a man after God’s heart. Our anchor scripture in this chapter, 1 Samuel 13:13-14 reveals that those who are after God’s heart occupy a special place in His divine scheme. God knows them and they are

WINNING GOD'S HEART (1)

This article series is a product of my study on the topic, A Believer After God’s Heart with focus on King David. The study was intended for Bible Study in my local assembly. My discoveries on what made God boast of David as a man after His heart even when the same David was an unknown character prior to God declaring him a man after His heart, and how this can enrich a believer’s relationship with God is what the Holy Spirit has placed in my heart to share with you. The depth of what I discovered compelled me to author the book, Winning God’s Heart. David was only an unknown shepherd boy who spent most of his time in the wilderness. Though he had a rich spiritual life, he was unknown even to Samuel, the greatest prophet in the land. This tells us that there are so many people who possibly are secret spiritual giants. They are neither popular nor big time preachers but they are known to God. They probably have not travelled outside their villages for the first time but they are well ac

WHEN GOD FIGHTS FOR YOU

BIBLE TEXT: EXODUS 14:10-14 Exodus  14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.  14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?  14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.  14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.  14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. I will want to start by informing you that God is more interested

THE POWER OF ANOINTING

BIBLE TEXT: Acts  10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." WHAT IS ANOINTING?  The word anointing can be defined from  3 standpoints: ordinary, ecclesiastical and official.  ORDINARY: Anointing in the ordinary sense is performed by pouring oil on the head or parts of the body. Anointing the body or head with oil was common with the Jews, many other Oriental nations. (Ruth 3:3, Micah 6:15, Luke7:46 ) OFFICIAL: Anointing is also performed when inaugurating/commissioning someone into the office of; a. A Prophet, (1 Kings 19:16, 1 Chronicles 16:22 ; Psalms 105:15)  b. A Priest, ( Exodus 40:15 ; Numbers 3:3; Exodus 29:29; Leviticus 16:32) so that "the priest that is anointed," (Leviticus 4:3) is generally thought to mean the high priest.  c. A King, Anointing was the principal sign and ritual performed during the inauguration of the J

DEALING WITH THE PRINCE AND KINGS OF PERSIA (PART 2)

The angel that made the revelations to Daniel revealed to him and by extension to us that there are demonic powers that control every hamlet, community, society, state, etc that has a name or identity. So there are powers in-charge of everywhere on earth. In this case Persia, because that was where Daniel was living at that time. To buttress this, Daniel 10:20 talks about another demonic prince, the Prince of Greece. Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.‖ - Dan 10:20 So you can be sure that there is a spirit demonic princes and Kings of your kindred, hamlet, community, local government, state and nation supervising the affair and progress of people who originates from or are residing there. The angel said that he was stopped in the heavenly firmament by the Prince of Persia. This is no earthly prince, since no human prince would be able to withstand

DEALING WITH THE PRINCE AND KINGS OF PERSIA (PART 1)

Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. And he said to me, "O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you." While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come." - Dan 10:10-14 (Emphasis mine). The story in Daniel Chapter 10 opened my eyes to certain ignored truths about praying and receiving answers to

BUILDING A STRONG CHRISTIAN LIFE

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 7:24-27, 1 Corinthians 3:11, 1Corinthians 10:12 For any building to stand the test of time and environmental factors, it must be properly built with the right materials and to specification from foundation to roof. Buildings are mainly composed of foundation, walls and roof. THE FOUNDATION The foundation of a building bears and supports the weight of the entire building. The foundation of a Christian life is therefore very important. It is composed of the basic doctrines of salvation. The first set of messages/training you are given when you become born again. Some denominations puposefully put new concerts through such training in their foundational classes, and that quite right.  It includes the basic principles on which a believer builds his faith. Salvation marks the beginning of the building of a believer's faith.   1 Corinthians  6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are
